Who Am I?

Penny Phillips Certified INHC and Mind Body Soul Health Coach and Life Coach

I received my training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I studied and know every dietary theory and practical lifestyle/life coaching methods. I am also a member of the IAHC and IAOLC. Credentials mean nothing if you don't get results!  You and I will get those results together. I want to help you be the best version of YOU as you can be.

With my knowledge, we co-create completely personalized actions based on your goals to move you toward your ideal vision of health within your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and resources. In my own life I have had/still have my own health issues. In 2003 I was diagnosed with Relapsing and Remitting Multiple Sclerosis, and by the time they discovered this, I was already in the advanced stages. This lead me to look into more holistic ways of living with this instead of the conventional disease modifying drugs, which are toxic. To this very day I have never taken the disease modifying drugs or the IV Steroids they give when one has a flare up. I have my good days and I have my bad days with it.  It only gets worse from stress, being over-heated, sickness, gluten, and basically all processed foods.

I have also been diagnosed with several other auto-immune diseases, and all the weird symptoms and health issues that come from that. Auto-immune diseases feed off each other, your body is literally attacking itself. Which came first the MS or the Epstein Barr? It's like the chicken and the egg saying, which one came first, the chicken or the egg? I am not sure, but I treat it all the same...holistically.

My own health issues led me to become a health coach and help others like myself. I help you get to the root of it all, working with your doctor of course. I would never tell you to stop taking your medications, because what works for me may not work for you and vice versa. Western medicine has it's place and is beneficial, but it is also overused. I am not just a health coach but I am also a patient. I get it, I understand. I know all the emotions one feels with chronic illnesses.

On the brighter side of all of this, is, if I had never been diagnosed I would have never become a health coach. I am also a classically trained Soprano. I play the piano and write music as well. I taught voice and piano for over sixteen years. I know the healing power of music and how there are certain tones and beats that literally heal. I want my music to inspire and touch others, shinning the light on their darkness and find healing through my music.

I of course love music, reading, yoga, pilates, writing and journal. I am a bit of a geek, and of course all things spiritual. I meditate daily, and consider myself more spiritual and a Jesus-follower. I am also an Intuitive and a studying energy healer ,and  When clients come to me or just anyone in general, they know they will always find a safe place. You are accepted and loved as you are, no matter what race/religion/sex/etc. What a boring world this would be if we were all alike. If you have read all this you deserve a cookie...a gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free cookie!

Get your cookie here, and tell Jennifer I sent you.

Tell me about you. How can I help?

Wow, I can not believe that it is November already. How has the fall been treating you? I know for myself that fall has been a time of slowing down, reflecting, and releasing all that no longer serves me. In Ayurveda,(An ancient medical system from India that teaches us to align our lives and diets with the seasons ) this season is called the Vata Season. Fall is a dry windy erratic and yet very…

I know it has been awhile since my last post, but so much has gone on since. First off, I had my 40th Birthday this past May. My Fiancé got me a decadent gluten-free Birthday cake from this amazing bakery in Blacksburg, VA, called Bollo’s. It was a vanilla chiffon with layers of luscious raspberry and cream cheese icing. It was absolutely delicious. I think the pictures speak for themselves. 🙂

I am also now a Certified Reiki Master I II and III. I laugh inside because calling myself a master of anything is laughable. I consider myself a life long learner, a student of life and all that is. Honestly, I do not know what I am going to do with this certification right now, as I am learning and discovering the world of energy healing. I am already a certified holistic health coach, going on over three years now.  My new website is being developed right now, and I have a new logo thanks to my loving fiancé.

This past May 11th, my Birthday, I was divorced a year. It wasn’t much longer that I found and connected with the love of my life, my Fiancé. While it has been such a beautiful journey thus far, my health has had a few set backs. I meditate and do reiki on myself daily, especially right before bed. It is helping so much, because I  have had shoulder pain for over two months, I am now in physical therapy, so I can get MRI’s on both shoulders. It looks like it is from the MS, spasticity and muscle weakness. I am improving slowly, and my Fiancé is helping me get fit again. My last marriage did such a number on me, mentally, physically, and emotionally, and I gained twenty pounds, that I am slowly losing. It is not going fast enough for me, but slow and steady, baby steps I know. I have become my own holistic health coach and energy healer.  That is the whole purpose of it all, so I can help others find their path too.

My Achey Reiki Heart...

My Achey Reiki Heart…

Okay, that was a really bad blog title, but it is almost midnight here and my 40th Birthday in about thirty minutes, so I feel a bit silly. It’s good to be silly and laugh at yourself. I am typing this on my new Microsoft Surface 5 that my loving Fiance` bought me last Friday for my Birthday. Microsoft Surface is amazing, and better than any laptop I have used. I can do everything on it, from…
